Agile Project Management Hands On

This workshop, uses agile simulations, realistic scenarios and group discussions to teach participants the core techniques of Agile Project Management and how they are applied to real world projects.

Topics include core Agile tools (e.g. Velocity, Kanban board, timeboxing, iteration and release planning, daily stand ups, burn down charts, backlog grooming/refinement, retrospectives, etc.)

Learn to:

  • Appreciate the philosophy behind Agile Project Management and its methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Determine where agile techniques are appropriate
  • Create and execute project plans within an Agile environment
  • Effectively use Agile techniques (e.g. user stories, story points, personas, backlog items, sprints, scrum meetings, retrospectives, etc.)
  • Accurately assess and communicate an Agile project’s status
  • Address the challenges of practicing Agile in a culture of traditional project management

For those wanting to write the PMI-ACP exam, the book "PMI-ACP Exam - How to Pass on Your First Try" by Andy Crowe is included. This is the first book written specifically for the new PMI-ACP exam, and it includes two practice PMI-ACP exam simulations.

NOTE: The curriculum is compatible with the project management industry standard set by the Project Management Institute (PMI®). Waterloo partners with a project management training provider to offer courses that qualify for PMP Professional Development Units (PDUs). You will receive a course binder that parallels the course content and serves as an excellent project management resource tool.

May be applied toward the Project Management Certificate.
