Project Leadership Certificate

Delivered over a 13-week period, Waterloo's Certificate in Project Leadership was developed with the demands of today’s real world in mind.  It combines project leadership and project management content into one, robust and comprehensive program. 

All instruction is delivered completely online and includes a live seminar once a week with Peter Carr, the instructor. This video session is recorded and accessible at any time. Course grading is based on individual participation in weekly group activities. There are no prerequsites to enroll, but you must be prepared to commit 10-12 hours per week and participate regularly.

Social Media for Business Performance Certificate

Social Media for Business Performance Certificate is a fully online, 10 week program that will give you the knowledge and skills needed to exploit social media tools to improve the performance of your organization. It will do this by first outlining the areas where emphasis is currently focused to improve business performance and then explaining how social media might be applied to these areas. It is taught by University of Waterloo professor, Peter Carr.

Technology Entrepreneurship Certificate

Gain the skills and knowledge required to be a technology entrepreneur during this 11-week course, taught by uWaterloo professor Peter Carr. You’ll learn how to develop innovative, technological products and services and establish a technology-based business. You’ll refine your business model by connecting with real potential customers and partners and through interaction with your fellow participants in the course’s virtual technology business incubator. The course culminates in the creation of detailed business plans for future business development and for engaging potential investors. You can also post your business profile to the course’s TecShowcase - a public website which is made available to potential investors.

At the end of this course, you will have:

  • developed an idea for a technology-based product or service and will understand the processes which support this,
  • created a business plan for a technology-based product or service and will understand the processes which support this,
  • learned skills in engaging with potential customers and partners by developing and implementing an engagement strategy,
  • become familiar with the Lean Startup approach and practiced its “getting out and talking to customers” approach, and
  • joined the University of Waterloo’s online Technology Entrepreneurship community where you’ll continue the relationships you established in the course
