Business Analysis Certificate

This in-class certificate provides you with the knowledge and skills you need to excel and succeed as a business analyst.

The program’s curriculum is consistent with the business analysis industry standard set by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®) and prepares participants for the IIBA’s Business Analysis Professional (CBAP®) certification.

Who is it for?
This certificate is designed for business analysts, those interested in pursuing a business analysis career, and/or those interested in performing business analysis work.  It will equip you with a wide range of skills including business analysis planning and monitoring, enterprise analysis, requirements elicitation and management, solution assessment and validation, and other underlying competencies such as analytical thinking and problem solving.

Advanced Leadership Certificate

Effective leaders are the key to success, continuous improvement, and the longevity of modern organizations. And leadership skills are complex, requiring a great deal of knowledge. To develop as an effective leader you must become adept in the current leadership best practices. In response to this need, WatSPEED has created the Advanced Leadership Certificate.

This in-class program will provide you with the skills to

  • transform a team or organization and build continuous improvement into your operation
  • use meetings as powerful tools to communicate, make decisions, and forge consensus
  • resolve complex organizational problems and eliminate them from within the organization
  • continuously develop through planned and effective delegation of work

Who is this for?
This program is designed for people who have completed the Leadership Certificate and want to delve deeper into leadership best practices. It will be extremely useful for supervisors, managers, team leads, and people who aspire to leadership roles.

Project Management Certificate

This certificate is comprised of 5 in-class courses (10 days of training) which provide you with the knowledge and skills to excel and succeed as a project manager. You will gain a solid understanding of sound project management techniques and processes, and the confidence to apply them effectively.

The curriculum is compatible with the project management industry standard set by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Waterloo partners with a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP) to provide you with PMP® WatSPEED Units (PDUs).

Who is this for?
This certificate is designed for people who want to become project management specialists capable of consistently delivering projects on-target, on-time, and on-budget.

Requirements
Complete the 4 compulsory courses (7 days) and 1 of the elective courses (3 days) for a total of 10 days and 70 PDUs / Contact Hours of training.

Advanced Project Management Certificate

Advanced Project Management courses will be discontinued as of December 31st, 2022. Don't miss your last chance to sign up for these courses.

This certificate is comprised of 6 elective in-class courses (6 days of training) designed to provide project management professionals with the ability to further differentiate themselves from others in the field, while continuing to expand your knowledge in specific areas of project management.

The curriculum is compatible with the project management industry standard set by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Waterloo partners with a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP) to provide participants with PMP® WatSPEED Units (PDUs).

Who is this for?
This certificate is designed for those who want to gain additional project management training while retaining flexibility in choosing which courses are most beneficial.

Requirements
Complete the Project Management Certificate and a minimum of 6 days from the list below, for a minimum of at least 42 PDUs / Contact Hours (in addition to the PDUs completed for the Project Management Certificate).

Notes:

  • Completing the Project Management Certificate is a pre-requisite to earning the Advanced Project Management Certificate.
  • You can take these courses in any order.
  • PMP® Exam Preparation is a 4-day course but only 2 days count towards the certificate requirements because it is heavily focused towards exam preparation techniques instead of teaching project management methodology.

Advanced Agile Project Management Certificate

The courses in this in-class certificate provide you with the knowledge and skills to excel as a project manager using an agile mindset and specific agile techniques to successfully manage projects.

The curriculum is compatible with the project management industry standard set by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Waterloo partners with a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP) to provide you with PMP® WatSPEED Units (PDUs).

Who is this for?

This certificate is geared to individuals who already have some agile training and experience, who are ready to go beyond specific agile methodologies (e.g. scrum, XP) and learn how to take advantage of agile project management techniques and apply an agile mindset to a wide variety of project types (i.e. not just IT).

The courses will also appeal to those participants who are currently, or will be, involved in the usage of agile within their organization to a level appropriate for larger and more complex projects, including the enterprise level.

Requirements

Complete the 3 compulsory courses (4 days) and a minimum of 2 days from the list of elective courses, for a total for 6 days and 42 PDUs.

Pre-Requisites

To qualify to take this advanced level agile certificate you should already have hands on experience working on agile projects as a team member or a team lead and you must already have completed formal training in both traditional and agile project management. We strongly recommend you have completed the 3-day Project Management Applied Tools and Techniques course (or similar) and the 3-day Agile Project Management Hands On course (or similar).
